The Shutford Circular Walk is a series of 10 caches on a 5 mile circular walk. You can also make a slight alteration to the route to pick up a couple of other caches at the same time. I really enjoyed this trail and it is fully deserving of the favorite point I awarded it following our walk on Saturday. We started from from the small village of Shutford and parked on the side of the road near the George & Dragon, it was then only a short walk until we hit the countryside.
It was a cold and overcast day for our walk but the frozen footpaths meant we didn’t end up too muddy. There were a couple of dominant landscape features that we passed on the way around the series starting with Round Hill, Jester’s Hill and an ancient hill top fort.
There are signs along a short section through Upper Lea Farm asking us to keep dogs on leads but after that it was very dog friendly with only one quiet road to cross. The views all around were fantastic even on a grey day like today.
As with most great series there were bonus clues to collect but if you DNF one of the caches, like us, you will still be able to find the bonus which is a tricky one to find at the end of the walk but in a great spot.
