After lunch on Saturday we headed north for the Old Warren Series on the Lambourn Downs. This little series of 2.5 miles with only 5 caches is around some hilly but beautiful countryside. Pip and I were the first to do the series since the beginning of January.
The first part of the trail was upwards to the top of Washmore Hill where we stopped to take in some great views, unfortunately it was still misty Saturday afternoon but nevertheless we could see quite a way across Warren Down.
The good thing about going up a hill is that you usually go back down it the other side! As we walked down the the grass track I thought about how much fun it would be to free wheel down it on a mountain bike!
The unfortunate thing about going down a hill is that you usually have to go back up it the other side! In this case it was up East Garston Down, only this wasn’t too bad but on a hot day this will be a killer.
It really felt like spring today along the trail, blossom on the trees, daffodils and new born lambs, sweet! Actually a serious point, this is sheep country so take care with dogs, fortunately Pip was still full from our lunch stop! We enjoyed this little series but unfortunately had a DNF, it was amazing that it was only one as these caches we very visible along the side of the tracks. (Trail completed Saturday 26th March)
