The Hannington Hop is a 4.5 mile loop from Ibworth to Hannington and back with 16 plus 5 other caches along or not far from the trail. Another great series, I just loved this walk, it had it all, great views, great paths and great caches. Recommended.
The trail started from just outside the village of Ibworth, where there was parking for several cars on the grass verge. The trail began with a short walk along the lane to join the “new” restricted byway that wasn’t shown on any of the OS maps I have but was clearly sign posted when we reached it.
The first half of the walk took us along a pleasant woodland walk through Warren Bottom Copse to Hannington village, we picked up some unusual caches along the way. Hannington is a very nicely kept village with a huge village green in the centre and a church off to the side. On the day we visited there was lots of bunting up around the green, left over from Royal Wedding celebrations. I loved this little village it had a really good feel about it.
We left the lovely village along a byway on top of the hill, where there were some fantastic views and where we could also see the Cottington’s Hill TV transmitter in the distance. Sadly from this point we were on the return leg of the trip, but as well as some great caches there were some more great views to finish with.
