One Sunday morning, with a few hours to kill and some dogs that needed walking I choose to take in a couple of small series through some local woods that I had never visited. I have had this little collection on my list for a while and was pleased at last to get the opportunity to get out and find them.
Just north of Cirencester off of the Stow road on the A419 lies a collection of woods all very close to each other. There are not many public rights of way through any of them but walkers are most welcome (according the signs) to use the permissive paths to explore the woods.
The first series of 4 caches run through the centre of the Ragged Hedge Wood, the second series of 5 caches runs around Sister Wood, there are then 3 other caches in two of the other woods. All the caches can be joined together to make a circular walk of 12 caches.
I’ve never been to these woods before but they were absolutely delightful and full of wildlife, we saw several deer in the woods and half a dozen hares chasing around around the adjacent fields. If you are looking for a couple of kid friendly caches with decent size caches you should put this walk on your list to do.
