Kisby's Farm
Kisby's Farm

This trial started from the village hall car park in southern side of Ecchinswell, a village half way between Newbury in Berkshire and Basingstoke in Hampshire.  We headed out for our second series of the day. The fog that had been with us all morning had not lifted but at least it was still dry.

The trail took us east passing Frodbury Park Copse, some recent rain had made several of the paths along this section quite muddy and very slippery.   The walk went past Cottismore Nursery with it’s large green houses and from here the paths began to improve.  From the nursery the walk turned Westwards passing Kisby’s farm, a large house with a nice lake in the back garden.  An abundance of snowdrops covered the grass verges either side of the drive from Kisby’s Farm to northern side Ecchinswell.   The trail then continued past Birch and Waterleas Copse along a long gravel path which made for easy walking.  After a short walk along a quiet lane we took the footpath through Crowmarsh Copse back to the village hall.
