Name: Bagendon Lanes North Loop
Distance: 3.5 Miles
Location: Bagendon, Gloucestershire
First in Series: GC4RM7H
Walked on: 21st December 2013
Terrain: quiet country lanes and a footpath
This is a nice little series of 11 caches located alongside quiet country lanes. The trail starts from the idyllic Cotswold village of Bagendon. At the centre of the village is St Margaret’s church which dates back to the 12th century and this is where I parked my car for the start of the series. The series is almost entirely along narrow, quiet tarmac lanes, but they are not really suited as dash and caches as there are no nearby spots to pull the car in. It would make a pleasant short bike ride with the family and if you are looking for a walk with a stroller this would be a good choice too.
The route is nice and simple and doesn’t need any planning in advance. This is an excellent walk for enjoying the Cotswold countryside without getting muddy. There are some really lovely views over the valley as you head up hill and along the top of Merchants’ Downs on the way towards Woodmanscote. On the way back the trail continues along more quiet lanes and a gravel footpath section.
I really enjoyed this walk which only took about an 1 and 1/2 hours to get around. All the caches were quick and easy to find, you should enjoy this one.
