Yet another beautiful day ahead of us so an opportunity to complete another couple of Marrow Bone series.  I decided to do the first part of the Bone Trail which starts from Harbury (Parking next to Floating Bone 17) and goes out along  to the outskirts of Whitnash then back over Crown Hill, Frizmore Hill and through Westfields Farm to arrive back at Harbury.  The trail covers a variety of terrain and farm land, but luckily it avoids the very muddy fields. There are some lovely views from the top of Crown Hill where you’ll also find a trig point and a simple puzzle cache.  A very enjoyable series.

From Harbury we had a 1/2 mile or so walk along the road to the first cache. There was little traffic on Saturday morning.

Once off the road, the trail continued along a bridleway parallel to the railway line. As you can see from the blue sky in the picture it was a very nice bright morning which meant there were several muggles about along this path.

The bridleway brought us out in Whitnash and through a housing estate, there were no geocaches along this section.

We passed by St. Margaret’s parish church on the outskirts of the town.

Then we stopped for a snack in the bone yard where there was a nice bench to sit and rest.

We then began our walk back across farmland but, the paths took us around the fields and luckily not through them.

There was a nice 360 degree view at the top of Crown hill, which is where the trig point in the picture at the top of the page is locate.  Click here to see the 360 degree view.

The trail finished by passing through Westfields farm and up a small but slipper hill to finish the series.
